Data Ambassador Council

MISSION STATEMENT

The Data Ambassador Council (DAC) is a diverse cohort of undergraduate data equity advocates and a focal point of CAIDS student input and engagement. For the 2025-2026 school year our theme is “Engage with CAIDS”! Aligning with our theme of “Engaging with CAIDS,” the Data Ambassadors Council meets to plan events and DAC members attend and promote CAIDS events. As a council, we work with our unique set of diverse thoughts and perspectives to promote CAIDS as a resource for students around campus through data events, open houses, and tabling around campus.

OUR VALUES

Integrity

Firm adherence to the CAIDS set of values and priorities throughout our work and projects. All of the information provided by the DAC and CAIDS as a whole is reported to the highest accuracy possible as to best reflect information to students in search of it

Flexibility

The ability to adapt to changing priorities, situations, or goals as we work to accomplish our goals w/i CAIDS. As a team we recognize the best way to work together is by being adaptable and being flexible with possible changes needed for us to advance forward

Meaningful Work

Doing and providing work that promotes data equity and literacy for different backgrounds/communities. The DAC prides itself on intentionally working toward its shared goals by way of an interdisciplinary approach to ensure that all students on Tulane’s campus have access to data knowledge and the opportunities that come along with it

Education

Placing importance on learning different data tools and how to analyze and draw conclusions from data in a fair way

Community

The DAC itself is a community of peers whose goal is to foster a strong Data community within the Tulane student body

PROJECTS

Community Outreach

The DAC works to connect with the Tulane Student body to share data-based resources and to promote data literacy and equity. We accomplish this through coordinating 6 tabling events a year. We use these tabling events to learn the needs of the Tulane community, to share the classes the CAIDS department offers, and to advertise our yearly DAC application so that other students can join our group.

Liaison Groups

Our Liaison Groups are centralized groups of students within the DAC that work as the externally facing member of the the DAC. These students are responsible for creating and maintaining partnerships with other student organizations or fulfilling the goals of their respective Liaison Group. There are three Liaison Groups: Leadership Council, Community Engaged Council, Outreach Council

Focus Groups

As needed the DAC forms a Focus Group to provide student input into plans surrounding new majors/minors and other new CAIDS programs

Friends with CAIDS

Maintaining a Friends with CAIDS Linkedin Group. Our duties include inviting and approving new members, monitoring group activity, viewing and responding to comments, and posting updates. The LinkedIn group will serve as a hub for engagement, where events, internship opportunities, and job postings can be shared to strengthen professional connections and foster ongoing collaboration between students, alumni, and industry partners
